Paper Performance

To prepare for this live darkroom performance, I stockpiled expired analogue paper and old photographs from Musrara’s archives. The gelatin papers were delicately placed in baths of developing liquid and allowed to float on the surface while slowly absorbing the chemicals and becoming submerged. As they gradually sank into the liquid, the darkroom seemed to come to life and the viewer witnessed a slow and delicate dance as each page developed, revealing a partial image seemingly of

its own making.
